This scam relies on trust in a familiar delivery brand. Someone calls, introduces themselves as a courier and asks you to confirm details or provide a code. An unexpected call proves nothing. If the caller pressures you or asks for secrets, end the conversation.

How the scheme works

The caller may confidently use your name, address or an order number before asking you to do something. They may send a link or ask you to reply with information. A fake page can copy a real delivery service and collect your details.

Do not rush because someone says a parcel must be collected immediately. Check the order yourself. Open the official website manually and find the company’s contact information there.

What to do about a suspicious approach

Do not argue with an unknown caller. End the call and verify the information through an official channel. Even convincing details do not justify disclosing a password or card information. The scam depends on urgency; take a pause.

  • Do not give out verification codes or passwords.
  • Do not open an unfamiliar link.
  • Check the shipment number independently.
  • Contact the company through its official website.
  • Preserve the caller’s number and message if you suspect fraud.

A familiar name does not establish identity

Knowing an order number does not prove that a caller is a courier. A lookalike website may differ from the genuine address by just one letter. Check the address carefully.

A date, familiar phrase or repeated claim is not proof either. Pressure can be disguised as concern: “it is urgent” or “your order will be cancelled”. Understanding the pressure helps, but independent verification is what protects you.

Warning signs

  • An unexpected call about a parcel you are not expecting.
  • A request for an SMS verification code.
  • A new link for payment or confirmation.
  • Threats of cancellation or loss of the order.
  • Demands to send information immediately.

The CDEK name can appear in a fraudulent message without the real service being involved. If the caller tries again, say that you will check independently.

Before you act

Compare the sender, shipment number and website address. Find the official service yourself; do not use contact details supplied in the suspicious message. A plausible story does not replace verification. Take a pause and do not let pressure decide for you.
