Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy controls and governs your use of and access to the Scambodge website (“Website”). Certain provisions, conditions and rights may depend on your location and other legal factors. Further information is provided below.
Website visitors
Like most website operators, Scambodge collects non-personally-identifying information of the kind typically made available by web browsers and servers. This includes browser type, language preference, referring website, and the date and time of each visitor request. From time to time, Scambodge may publish non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate.
Scambodge may collect potentially personally-identifying information such as Internet Protocol (“IP”) addresses. Scambodge does not use this information to identify its visitors. It does not disclose potentially personally-identifying information except under the same circumstances in which it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, as described below.
Collection of personal information
Some visitors choose to interact with the Website in ways that require Scambodge to collect personal information. The amount and type collected depend on the nature of the interaction. For example, visitors who use our forums are asked for a username and email address. In each case, Scambodge collects information only insofar as necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with the Website. Because personal information is supplied voluntarily, a visitor always has the right to refuse to provide it. Visitors should be aware that some aspects of the Website may not work, or may not work as intended, without personal information.
Use and protection of personal information
Scambodge discloses potentially personally-identifying and personal information only to employees, contractors and affiliated organisations that (a) need to know it to process it on Scambodge’s behalf or provide services available on the Website and (b) have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of these employees, contractors and affiliated organisations may be outside your country; by using the Website, you consent to transferring this information to them.
Scambodge does not rent or sell your potentially personally-identifying or personal information. Apart from the employees, contractors and affiliated organisations described above, Scambodge discloses it only when required by law or when Scambodge believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Scambodge, third parties or the public.
Communications from Scambodge
By visiting the Website, you agree that Scambodge may occasionally email you about new features, request feedback, provide valuable marketing information or otherwise inform you about the Website and its services. We primarily use our blog for this information, so we expect to keep these communications to a minimum. You have the right to opt out by notifying us that you no longer wish to receive them. You can do this by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of an email.
For other requests you send us, for example by email to support or through a feedback mechanism, we reserve the right to publish them to help clarify or respond to your request or support other users. Scambodge makes reasonable efforts to protect against unauthorised access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personal information.
Cookies
Cookies and similar technologies, such as web beacons (collectively “cookies”), are strings of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. The Website uses cookies to help Scambodge identify and track visitors, their use of the Website and their access preferences.
Scambodge cookies may be session cookies, lasting only for the current session, or persistent cookies, remaining after that session. Website users may also use third-party session and persistent cookies, as described in the reference table below. Visitors who do not want cookies placed on their computers may refuse them by setting their browser to reject cookies before using the Website or, for third-party cookies, by opting out directly on the third-party websites listed in the reference table below and changing the relevant user-preference settings.
For clarity, most cookie-like technologies, such as web beacons, depend on cookies to work correctly, so opting out through third-party website preferences will often disrupt them. If you refuse cookies, some Website features may not work properly. For instructions on rejecting cookies, click your browser’s help option.
By complying with Scambodge’s informed-consent policy, users expressly give informed consent to all cookies, including but not limited to first-party persistent cookies and third-party session and persistent cookies. Under this policy, informed consent to all cookies must not last more than one year. After one year from giving consent, users must provide informed consent again or reject cookies as described above.
Waiver of informed consent to cookies
“By visiting and scrolling through this website, you agree to our cookie policy and that we may use cookies for the best user experience.”
Do Not Track requests and signals
Do Not Track requests and signals are settings in some browsers that alert websites that a visitor does not want to be tracked. Compliance is optional and many websites do not follow them. Like many other websites, the Website does not comply with Do Not Track requests and signals. However, as explained above, we honour requests when you choose not to accept cookies.
Third-party websites
The Website links to other websites, applications, services and products (“Other Websites”). Neither Scambodge nor the Website controls, reviews or endorses Other Websites. Nor do they review, endorse or necessarily agree with their privacy policies and notices. Before providing personal information to Other Websites, review their privacy notices, practices and other available information about how they process personal information.
Individual rights
Some jurisdictions provide citizens and residents with specific rights and protections concerning personal information. Examples are the European Union (“EU”) under the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), California under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), and other similar laws and regulations. Your individual rights depend on your citizenship or residence. Examples from the GDPR and CCPA include:
- Knowing where we obtain personal information about you.
- Knowing what personal information about you we process.
- Requesting to view or receive a copy of your personal information.
- Asking for inaccurate personal information to be corrected.
- In certain circumstances, asking us to delete personal information. Exercising this right may prevent participation in some Website activities.
- Objecting to certain processing and requesting restricted processing. Exercising this right may prevent participation in some Website activities.
- Receiving personal data in a machine-readable format and transferring it to another data controller.
- Receiving the same products and services at the same price, if any, insofar as possible, whether or not you exercise your rights.
- Knowing when automated decisions are made about you and opting out. The Website does not currently use personal data for automated decisions about individuals.
How long we retain personal information
We retain personal information while your account is active or as necessary to provide the products and services you request. We retain and use it as necessary to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our lawful rights and obligations. Retention may extend beyond account closure if Scambodge has a legitimate basis or legal obligation. You may also request deletion as described above.
Parental consent to processing children’s personal information
The GDPR requires parental consent to process personal information of children under 16; importantly, EU member states may lower the consent age to 13. The US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) provides similar protections for US citizens and residents. Neither Scambodge nor the Website sells to, or intends to obtain personal information from, persons under 13. You must inform Scambodge if you are under 13 so that appropriate parental consent can be obtained.
Changes to the Privacy Policy
Scambodge may change its Privacy Policy from time to time at its discretion and without prior notice. Visitors are encouraged to check this page frequently. You can identify changes because the date shown above indicates when the Privacy Policy takes effect. Continued use after a change signifies acceptance, except where applicable law requires affirmative acceptance of the Privacy Policy.
