The situation

Nadezhda Romanova, a client living in Spain, transferred savings in USDT to a supposed investment platform. Her account was blocked and she was asked to pay an additional $3,000 as a “withdrawal tax”.

Tracing the funds

Blockchain analysis identified the recipient’s wallet at Bybit. The available transaction evidence was assembled into a formal request to the exchange’s compliance team.

Action taken

The request sought to freeze the assets before they could be withdrawn. It included evidence connecting the transfers and the fraudulent situation.

Outcome

The assets were frozen and $14,500 was returned to the client’s verified wallet.

The result depended on the evidence, tracing and availability of funds. It is not a promise that another crypto transfer can be recovered.
